In the coming weeks we will have two activities connected to remembrance and ýrecognition. Mutual recognition of each other’s narrative of
suffering could help and ýpromote a just peace and reconciliation between our peoples.ý
The first event: "Memory for Peace" will take place on Tuesday ýMay 13 at 20:00 in the White Dove Hall
in Neve Shalom ~ Wahat ýal-Salam
Our guests Father Emil Shoufani and Nazir M’gali, a journalist, both from Nazareth, will ýpresent the initiative of a group of Palestinians,
citizens of Israel, to visit Auschwitz ýconcentration camp.ý
From their statement to the press:ý
ý“At a time in which we are living our pain and the pain of our people, we launch an ýinitiative with the aim of feeling with all our being, the
pain of the other side, as ýindividuals and as groups. It is not possible for the two peoples to abandon the road of ýhostility and bloodshed unless
they understand and comprehend the pain that led the ýother side to the line of confrontation”.ý
You are most welcome to participate both in the presentation and the discussion that will ýfollow.ý
The second event: "Memory and Recognition” will take place ýSaturday June 7 at
11:00, in the auditorium of Neve Shalom ~ ýWahat al-Salam.ý
This event is performed together with “Zochrot” and the Association of the ýThree Villages
In this event we will commemorate the destruction of the three villages (1967) Imwas ýý(Emmaus), Yalu and Beit Nuba. The villages were situated in
the area of Latrun that is ýknown by the name of "Canada Park".ý
In the program:ý
Gathering in Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al-Salam, hearing some witnesses and ýwatching slides.ý ý
Driving to the area of the villages, making a tour and a ceremony. During ýthe ceremony we intend to put up a sign to commemorate the three
ývillages.ý
